PATERSON – Police are investigating a serious assault from Thursday night, when three or four men, dressed in black and wearing black face masks, beat a man with aluminum bats on Essex Street.
At about 9:45 p.m., the victim – who police are not identifying – was standing on Essex Street, according to Lt. Richard Reyes. The victim sustained a broken arm and broken legs.
“He got hurt pretty bad,” Reyes said.
Reyes said the investigation is ongoing and he would not speculate on a possible motive to the attack, only that “it doesn’t appear random.”
