Paterson man dies trying to break into his own apartment

PATERSON — A 29-year-old man died after he broke a window outside of his apartment and cut an artery in his arm, during an argument with a woman inside who had locked him out, police said.

The 29-year-old man was trying to get inside the Main Street apartment after the woman locked him out of the apartment just before 10:50 p.m. Sunday. When he broke the window, the woman called police, said Detective Lt. Richard Reyes.

Officers and paramedics found him on the fire escape bleeding from his arm. Rescuers pulled him inside to give him medical attention, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, Reyes said.
