WALLINGTON — A man who police say was caught hiding behind a machine at a scrap metal shop that had closed for the night also faces a drug charge for allegedly having a crack pipe.

Pablo Marcus Guerreo, 45, of Passaic, remained lodged at the Bergen County Jail on Thursday, one week after Capt. Stanley Kisala said two officers found him attempting to rob Allied Waste Products on Midland Avenue.

A silent alarm connected to police headquarters raised suspicions of an intruder. When Officers Greg Dudzic and Jerry Lavacca arrived, they found a broken garage door, and then Guerreo, who had an Allied company camera, Kisala said.

Police also charged him with burglary, criminal mischief and trespassing, he said.
