CLIFTON — A bus rider slashed another passenger during an argument over a seat and fled on another bus, police said.
The men argued about the seat on a minibus that runs between New York City and Paterson and Passaic. One of the passengers slashed the other and fled with a woman, according to preliminary police reports.
Police believe the pair got off the bus at Main and Crooks avenues and hopped on a Paterson-bound NJ Transit bus just before 11 a.m. The victim was bleeding profusely from his wound and was taken to a hospital, said Detective Capt. Robert Rowan.
Witnesses described the couple as a black man and woman in their 20s. The man had a tattoo on his neck and the woman was wearing a black jacket, a pink hooded sweatshirt and had a ponytail, Rowan said.
City police notified NJ Transit and Paterson police. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
After the stabbing, the Express Service bus remained on the scene, its steps and handrail bloody after the attack.
