33-year-old Paterson man shot to death

PATERSON – A 33-year-old man died after police found his bullet-riddled body at Rosa Parks Boulevard and Godwin Avenue, authorities said.

Someone called 911 after hearing gunshots, and officers found Asan Jones, of East 28th Street, shot several times lying on the ground, said Detective Lt. Richard Reyes. He was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police do not have a motive or a suspect in the shooting, but said it was not a drive-by. Investigators also do not know why Jones was in the area.
